2024 Yoga Retreat
We are heading to Marrakech, Morocco June 30-July 6, 2024 to collaborate with Peacock Pavillions Hotel in order to bring you the retreat and venue of a lifetime.
We will focus on the practice of two styles of Hatha Yoga- all levels morning energizing flow and all levels evening relaxing yin/meditative, with varying degrees of emphasis on postures, breathing and focused concentration techniques.
How these practices contribute to overall wellness and self care in addition to the differences between a formal and an informal yoga practice will be broadly and minimally discussed in order to clarify how the practice can facilitate increased awareness, better choices and potentially more wellness and joy in one’s life.
A combination of yoga practices, informal shared discussions, journaling (Carrie will create and gift a special retreat journal), free time, a planned excursion (and opportunities to plan your own), shared meals, a karma yoga project (volunteering with Project SOAR a support system for girls to get education, make good choices and feel empowered) and a final celebration will reinforce our sense of connection with self, others and the environment.
Each 60 minute morning practice will include an energizing all levels flow style sequence focusing on postures and breathing practices.

The 60 minute evening practices will emphasize relaxation with longer held yin postures and focused concentration techniques using a 27 bead semi precious stone bead Mala that Jeri will make and gift to you.
The overarching goal for the morning and evening sessions is to create a path to the soul through practices that encourage an awakening into more moments of mindfulness for each participant. When we come from this space, we begin to live more fully... touch life deeply.
On select mornings after breakfast, we will gather for learning, discussion and journaling. The dimensions of self care, the limbs of a formal yoga practice (postures, breathing and concentration techniques) and the concept of an informal yoga practice (how to take yoga into more moments of your day by being mindful, shifting perceptions and finding ways to experience more gratitude) will be offered.
These practices are optional and may be adjusted based upon the needs of the group, our scheduled excursions (a guided tour and dinner in the Medina), movie night- Casablanca, of course, our cocktail party or mealtimes. We intend to have structure but with a bit of built in flexibility… kinda like life!😉
Sunday evening of the first night of our retreat we will settle into our rooms. Check in is at 4p. We will enjoy our first dinner and a Welcome Circle which will consist of getting acquainted, going over the agenda and setting our intention as a community for the week. Our hosts at the venue will inform us of opportunities for activities and excursions that are not included in your fee for those who desire further exploration.
The last evening's yoga practice on Friday will take place in the late afternoon and include closing our yoga practice with sharing and intention setting for when we get home followed by a celebration with an included Cocktail Party and Farewell Dinner.
We recommend coming into the country ahead of the retreat to acclimate to the time change and culture… and, to sight see.
Yoga Teachers will receive several hours (TBD) of Yoga Alliance approved CEs for all of the am and pm classes, the mid-morning informal discussions, the getting acquainted activity and the closing, as well as 3 CEs for the karma yoga project. These are all optional.
For NC Massage Therapists, Jeri can give you 6 NCBTMB approved CEs for two separate courses- engaging in 3 hours of karma yoga on your own time and attending an Ethics course for 3 hours. The Ethics will take place, for those who need and desire it, at a time that is agreed upon after we get to the retreat venue.
Our goal is to create a community where we come together to mindfully practice yoga formally (postures, breathing and concentration techniques) and informally (take it into our daily lives) so that perhaps we can each show up in the world with more awareness, make better choices, and exude more loving kindness and compassion for self, others and the environment.
This is yoga.
This is personal.
